BiographicalInformation
Stoyan Filipov - “Fil” was born in Sofia, Bulgaria, on July 27th, 1945.
Before he had art in his life, Fil was a man of science and a construction engineer. Dimensions, shapes, and colors have always played a role in his life, both personally and professionally. Feeling the pull of the canvas, he one day picked up a paintbrush – with surprising results. The year was 2001, and Filipov was living in the United States when he officially stepped into the world of fine art. His natural talent was undeniable, and it wasn’t long until art transitioned from a passion into a way of life for him. He was compelled to bring the world – and the people around him – to life through art, freezing the moments as he sees and feels them forever on canvas. A short six years after his introduction to painting, Filipov was invited to have his first public art showing in 2007. Stylistically, this artist loves experimenting with oil paints, enriching traditional styles. He has been a part of solo and group exhibitions in the United States and Europe, showcasing his art for the world to see.
Fil's UniqueStyle
Stoyan Filipov’s transition from engineer to artist was unexpected…even for him. The way he took to his own technique was nothing shy of a miracle for a man who had dealt so long in structures and numbers. He discovered that oil paint was the most natural medium for him to use. He felt deeply that it allowed him to best express his vision, emotion, and passion through his artwork. He began to study and research oil painting techniques, further perfecting his own unique style. He continues to build on the intellectual layers behind his work by constantly embracing existential reflections – something which has inspired his specific use of colors and color overlays.
